Mandrolisai

VITIVINICOLA CADEDDU

Tradizione e amore per il territorio

The Mandrolisai territory still preserves the agrarian landscape that spread across Sardinia in the mid-19th century following the Savoy land reform. It is a landscape characterized by a polycultural agricultural system hinged on the cultivation of cereals, vineyards, vegetable gardens and orchards, and arboreal quercine pastures that supplement fodder production and feed the local wood and cork industries.

The historic region of Mandrolisai, located exactly in the center of Sardinia, slopes with its granite hills to the southwest connecting the Gennargentu massif to the great Tirso river valley and the Gulf of Oristano. The area lies in the southern sector of the Mandrolisai, which is almost entirely included in the Rio Massari sub basin of the Tirso.

The outstanding element that gives the Mandrolisai area its unique landscape character is the presence of vine cultivation in the typical Sardinian alberello form. This is a form of training in volume hinged on 4 branches, each with a spur of 2 buds, present especially among the older plantings. Planting distances provide for 1.7÷1.9 m between rows and 0.9÷1.00 meter between stumps.

Vitivinicola Cadeddu’s vineyards tell the story and tradition of the place. The winery has a total of six vineyards, located in various parts of the territory of the municipality of Atzara characterized by an altitude between 400 meters above sea level and 700 meters above sea level.

Thanks to their location, mild and sunny climate, the vineyards enjoy the ideal environment in which to grow.

In the locality of “Angraris” there are two vineyards, one 6-year-old and one 107-year-old in which, on the latter, a project is being planned to produce a bottle of Rosso Superiore.

In the locality of “Sa Pandela” we find a 93-year-old vineyard in which, together with the grapes from the vineyard of “Crecchiggi”, the wine “CRE SÀ” is produced.

In the locality “Laonisa” we find a 40-year-old vineyard and finally at “Burdaga”, a vineyard planted 5 years ago.

The grapes are carefully cultivated and cared for: thanks to experience and knowledge of the area we keep the traditional method alive to produce wines of the highest quality
